How the content on this site is written, sourced, reviewed by clinicians and kept up to date, and how commercial relationships are kept away from editorial decisions.
Last updated September 25, 2026
Every procedure page on this site is written to answer the questions a person actually has before surgery: what the operation does, who it suits, what the risks are, how recovery goes and what it costs. The standard we hold ourselves to is that a surgeon reading the page would find nothing to correct and a patient reading it would find nothing missing that they needed to know.
Writers work from a structured brief for each procedure and are required to cite their sources. Acceptable sources are peer-reviewed literature, guidance from professional bodies and regulators, and the published protocols of accredited hospitals. Manufacturer material and clinic marketing are not sources for clinical claims.
Pages open with a short, self-contained answer, list key facts in a consistent format, and end with the sources they rely on. Where evidence is weak or disputed, the page says so rather than picking a side.
Clinical content cannot be published until a medical reviewer has approved it. Reviewers are qualified clinicians with relevant experience; their names and credentials are shown on the pages they reviewed, with the date. The review checks accuracy, completeness of the risk information, and that nothing overstates benefits or understates recovery.
Review is recorded in the content system as a formal status change. A page that has not been approved cannot go live, and a page that is materially changed goes back for review.
Each page shows when it was last reviewed. Pages are re-reviewed on a schedule and whenever a reviewer, a reader or a clinic flags something that has changed. Prices are re-verified separately and carry their own verification date.
Commercial relationships with clinics, described on the page about how we make money, have no bearing on editorial content. Specifically:
We do not use before-and-after galleries as marketing. Where surgical imagery appears it is behind an age confirmation, labelled as illustrative and used to explain, not to persuade. We do not use stock images of models presented as patients.
If you find an error, tell us using the details on the Legal Notice page. Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed and the page's review date is updated. Where a correction is material we note it on the page.
Drafting tools may be used to help structure text. Nothing produced with their help is published without a human editor rewriting and verifying it against sources and without the medical review described above.
