Intimate procedures address the appearance, comfort or function of the genital area. Labiaplasty reduces enlarged or asymmetric labia that chafe or cause self-consciousness, vaginoplasty tightens the vaginal canal after childbirth, and penile enlargement adds girth with fat or filler or length by releasing the suspensory ligament. They are performed under local or general anaesthesia as day cases, need two to six weeks before exercise and intimacy, and deserve clinical information rather than marketing.

Labiaplasty reduces the inner labia, usually because they protrude beyond the outer labia and cause discomfort with clothing, cycling, exercise or sex.
Penile enlargement covers lengthening by suspensory ligament release and girth enhancement by filler, fat or implant.
Penile girth enhancement surgery adds circumference to the shaft using hyaluronic acid filler, the patient’s own fat, or a soft silicone implant.
Penile lengthening surgery divides the suspensory ligament so that more of the existing shaft sits outside the body.

Intimate procedures address the appearance or comfort of the genital area: labiaplasty, vaginal tightening and penile enlargement are the most requested. They are personal decisions that deserve clear, clinical information rather than marketing.
The evidence base is uneven. Labiaplasty has long series showing good outcomes for physical discomfort and appearance. Vaginoplasty helps laxity after childbirth when physiotherapy has not, but is not a treatment for sexual dysfunction on its own. Penile enlargement techniques vary widely in safety, and professional societies advise caution with fillers and implants marketed for girth.
These pages sit behind an age confirmation. Each explains the anatomy involved, the techniques and their evidence, complication rates, the recovery period before sitting, exercise and intimacy, and how to check that a surgeon is properly qualified.
Start from what bothers you, not from a procedure name. A consultation confirms the choice.
Enlarged or asymmetric inner labia that chafe, twist or show in clothing
Trim and wedge techniques differ in scar position and sensation; discuss both.
Vaginal laxity after childbirth despite pelvic floor exercises
Ask what physiotherapy has been tried and whether a perineal repair is included.
Concern about penile size or girth
Most men who seek enlargement have a normal size; a frank consultation should say so if it is the case.
A prominent clitoral hood, or outer labia that are bulky, loose or deflated
These are separate structures from the inner labia; ask the surgeon to say which one they have examined.
A stretched or scarred vaginal opening, or pain from an episiotomy scar
Obstetric injury is often treated as reconstructive; ask your own doctor before paying privately.
A pubic mound that hides the labia or shows through fitted clothing
Liposuction suits firm fullness with good skin; a hanging mound needs excision and leaves a low scar.
A penis concealed by a fat pad or by scrotal skin running onto the shaft
Both reveal length that already exists and avoid the erection angle change that ligament release causes.
A low-hanging scrotum, or the appearance after a testicle has been removed
A testicular implant restores appearance only; it produces no testosterone and no sperm.
Pressure to have a hymen reconstructed
Hymenoplasty is a criminal offence in the UK, including abroad; confidential support matters more than surgery.
Combining operations saves a second anaesthetic and a second trip but lengthens surgery and recovery. Surgeons set limits on total operating time.
The two are often combined after childbirth under one anaesthetic; recovery is set by the vaginoplasty.
Sometimes offered together, but the combined operating time and the different recovery positions make staging the safer choice.
The genital area is richly supplied with blood and nerves and is difficult to keep clean and still after surgery, so wound breakdown, bleeding and infection are more common than in other cosmetic operations. Over-resection in labiaplasty can cause pain, dryness and a result that cannot be reversed; vaginoplasty can lead to over-tightening, scarring and painful intercourse; penile procedures carry risks of lumps, asymmetry, loss of sensation and, with implants, extrusion. Choose a surgeon who names these risks unprompted.
Intimate surgery should be performed by a plastic surgeon, gynaecologist or urologist with specific training in genital aesthetic surgery, in a setting with proper anaesthesia and privacy. Be wary of clinics that promise “rejuvenation”, sell energy devices for laxity, or advertise girth procedures without discussing complications. A good consultation examines you, explains what is normal, offers non-surgical options first where they exist, and gives you time to decide.
Labiaplasty and most penile procedures are day cases under local anaesthesia with sedation; vaginoplasty may involve one night. Plan five to seven days abroad so the surgeon can check healing before you fly, and book seats and transfers that let you avoid long periods of sitting. Loose cotton underwear, a small cushion and the wound care products the clinic recommends make the first week easier.
At home, keep the area clean and dry, avoid cycling and exercise for two to four weeks, and abstain from intimacy for four to six weeks or as advised. Arrange a discreet follow-up with a local gynaecologist or urologist, and contact the surgeon promptly about bleeding, increasing pain or a wound that opens.

Five to seven days for most procedures. Sitting and travel are uncomfortable in the first days, and surgeons want to check the wound before you fly.
Temporary changes in sensation are common for a few weeks. Permanent loss is uncommon with careful technique in labiaplasty and vaginoplasty, and more of a risk with penile girth procedures, which is why the technique and the surgeon’s experience matter.
Usually four to six weeks after labiaplasty or vaginoplasty and four weeks after penile procedures, once the wounds have fully healed and the surgeon has confirmed it.
Labiaplasty and ligament release are permanent. Vaginoplasty results can change with further childbirth or ageing, and girth added with fat or filler is partly absorbed over time.
Yes. Reputable clinics operate only on adults, and professional bodies advise against cosmetic genital surgery in anyone under 18. This site places intimate content behind an age confirmation.
