The short version
You pay nothing to use this site. Some clinics pay us. That money never changes what a page says about a procedure, never buys a verified mark and never moves a clinic up a list. This page explains the detail.
What clinics can pay for
- Referral fees. When you ask us to forward your enquiry to a clinic and you go on to book treatment with that clinic, the clinic may pay us a fee. You pay the same price whether or not the clinic pays us; the fee comes from the clinic's side.
- Partner listing. A clinic may pay to be a partner, which gives it a "partner clinic" label on its profile and lets it receive enquiries through the site.
Clinics that pay nothing are still listed, still verified and still shown in the same comparison tables, on the same terms.
What money cannot buy
- A verified mark. Verification is a set of checks, described on the page about how we verify clinics, and it is not for sale.
- A better position. Comparison tables are sorted by the criterion shown (usually price); lists of clinics are in a neutral order. Partner status is not a sort key.
- A better description. Clinic profiles are written to the same template from the same evidence for every clinic.
- Any change to a procedure page. Procedure content is governed by the Editorial and Medical Review Policy and clinics have no say in it.
How you can tell
- A clinic that pays for partnership carries a "partner clinic" label on its profile and in any list where it appears.
- Every page that lists clinics links to this disclosure.
- Prices carry the date they were last verified, so you can see they are not a promotional figure.
What we do not do
- We do not run time-limited offers, discounts or countdowns. Surgery should never be a rushed decision, and the advertising rules in the UK and the EU rightly forbid pressure of that kind for medical procedures.
- We do not accept payment for reviews, ratings or testimonials, and we do not publish star ratings for clinics.
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Why we work this way
A comparison site is only useful if the comparison is honest. The moment payment could change what you see, the site would be a brochure. Keeping the commercial side visible and separate is what makes the rest of the site worth reading.
